Different Way of Life

Vanuatu moves at a very different pace to the Western world. Time is the essence of life. Time for the community. Time for the family. Time for the individual. It is very different to its neighbouring countries.
This eldery grandfather walks 10k to spend Sunday at church with his family. All day he will carry his greatly loved grandson on his back. In the dark he will walk back 10k to his home. This time is important to him.

He has a great love of carving, but only owned a two foot long bush knife. We sent him some carving tools. He quickly returned to us one of his first finely carved pieces. Over time he will go on to make many more carved pieces to decorate the village and perhaps to sell to the occasional tourist who visits thes isolated isalnds.

These children have the simplest toys made from the products of the natural environment, yet always greet you with the biggest smiles. Between taking on their responsibilities in the village the children gather to play, to run and giggle like all children.

When you talk to them they dream to become a pilot, teacher, doctor or nurse, like any other child anywhere in the world.

It is a privilege to be able to assist these children achieve their dreams, by providing non-repayable high school grants to those who desire to reach out to the 21st century.
