Why a Foundation?

In 2006 we discovered that talented students in the outer islands of Vanuatu would never be able to go to high school if they were not assisted financially.

These children have the same desires as any child anywhere in the world. They want to be pilots, teachers, doctors, etc., but their dreams will never be a reality without outside help.

We set about to find a way to assist these children.

We could help them on our own, but only in a limited number. We had many guests who have asked us if they could help financially with these children. To do this, we felt it needed a properly structured, legal entity.

We consulted various government officials, lawyers, accountants, school teachers and other donor organizations, plus a wide range of consultants.

YouMe Support Foundation was born.

The Current Project being to give away Seachange Lodge Resort in a raffle, in order to place $US2million in a Trust Fund. The interest to give non-repayable education grants to students who show enthusiasm, promise and ability.

We found this involved a lot more than just raising money. The community life of these children revolves around the family. To take a child from the midst and transplant to a school is not a light thing to do. Every aspect had to be carefully considered.

It was not enough to just educate these students, YouMe Support Foundation needed to take on the responsibility of assisting the top students to full self-reliance and if possible, full financial independence.

We have only one chance to do it right for these young lives.
