“Unless we get outside help, our high achieving students will never have a chance to go to high school,” Mr Harris Apos, the Area Secretary said. “They will never have the opportunity to live their dreams of being a school teacher, doctor, mechanic, carpenter, or nurse, because we get very little assistance from the government.”
Recently a cyclone struck this island community, decimating their gardens and fruit trees. They appealed to the government for help. They were told “The government would look into, but there were no funds in the budget for natural disasters”. Food would run out in just two weeks unless the villagers received aid.
Without outside assistance, these communities are left to battle on their own. Through this news release, YouMe Support Foundation is asking for assistance to help these people, who were claimed in 2006 to be a part of the ‘Happiest Country on Earth’.
