World First - Giving Away a Resort
World first - a raffle, giving away a South Pacific island resort for charity to assist geographically and economically disadvantaged children through a non-repayable high school education grant.
In a world first, YouMe Support Foundation is giving away Seachange Lodge, http://www.seachangelodge.com, a boutique resort, in Port Vila, Vanuatu. Linked with http://winaresort.com, the Foundation will give non-repayable high-school education grants to children in the far flung communities of Vanuatu, will not receive a higher education without outside assistance.
“Unless we get outside help, our high achieving students will never have a chance to go to high school,” Mr Harris Apos, the Area Secretary said. “They will never have the opportunity to live their dreams of being a school teacher, doctor, mechanic, or nurse, because we get very little assistance from the government.”
One exercise book is shared between three pupils. Pencils are broken into three to give these children something to write with. Often there are no classrooms available, or fully qualified teachers. A lot of the parents cannot read or write. You can find more details at http://youmesupport.org
Since 2004 guests to Seachange Lodge have helped the proprietors , Rick and Wendy Tendys, to send desperately needed school supplies to these far flung islands.
Recently when a cyclone struck the island community, they appealed to the government for help. They were told that the government would look into, but there were no funds in the budget for natural disasters. Food would run out in just two weeks unless they received aid.
Vanuatu was claimed in 2006, to be the ‘Happiest Country on Earth’, but wiithout outside assistance, these communities are left to battle on their own. Through this news release, YouMe Support Foundation is asking for Your assistance to help these people, and giving you the chance to win up to $1000 cash.
