New Eyes

In the far north of Vanuatu, no one gets tested when their eyesight begins to fail.

Hoping they might be of some help, we sent up a few pairs of non-prescription glasses.

The tears of joy and relief were totally unexpected, when this school teacher found out he could once more read the books he loved so much.

 

 

 

 

 

Now he could read to his students again.

 

But will all these children learn to read and write? Eye testing is not part of schooling; how many pairs of glasses might just make a difference to the chances of fulfilling a dream?
