Non-Profit Organization Gives Away a Resort

Non-profit organization, YouMe Support Foundation, is giving away a South Pacific Island resort to give geographically and economically disadvantaged children a non-repayable high-school education grant.

YouMe Support Foundation, working with Win a Resort http://winaresort.com will give away a boutique South Pacific island resort, Seachange Lodge http://www.seachangelodge.com later this year, to raise funds to give high achieving students an opportunity to go to high school.

“Unless we get outside assistance, our high achieving students will never have a chance to go to high school,” Mr Harris Apos, the Area Secretary said. “They will never have the opportunity to live their dreams of being a carpenter, accountant, school teacher, doctor, mechanic, or nurse, because we get very little help from the government. At times, it is as if we don’t even exist.”

One exercise book is shared between three pupils, and pencils broken into three pieces to give the children something to write with. Often there is no classroom. Sometimes not even qualified teachers available.

Since 2004 guests to Seachange Lodge have helped the proprietors , Rick and Wendy Tendys, to send desperately needed school supplies to these far flung islands.

Recently a cyclone struck this island community, decimating their gardens and fruit trees. They appealed to the government for help. They were told “The government would look into, but there were no funds in the budget for natural disasters”. Food would run out in just two weeks unless the villagers received aid.

Without outside assistance, these communities are left to battle on their own. Through this news release, YouMe Support Foundation is asking for Your assistance and you get the chance to win up to $1000 cash.

Vanuatu was claimed in 2006 to be the ‘Happiest Country on Earth’.
